Chapter 4

Dear Diary,




Something terrible happened today on this island. As Simon, Piggy and I saw a ship pass by the island an idea came to all of us that we should hurry and use Piggy's specs to light a fire to use as a signal. I have told both Sam and Eric to tend the fire but to my surprise they left and joined Jack in hunting a pig for its blood and meat. The fire then burned half of the mountain down.


At this point my blood is boiling and I don't know how to feel about Jack anymore. We had a chance to be rescued by a ship that was passing by the island. Jack had to go and ruin it all for the rest of us who are stuck on the island. Piggy and I confront Jack for what he has done, and what gets me so irritated is that he doesn't even care about us getting rescued. For the first time I saw Piggy stand up to Jack but in a result Jack hit him in the gut, and it wasn't pretty. Piggy's specs broke and we lost a fire starter so from now on we all need to be careful. Tonight we ate pig and it was Jacks first kill.

I don't really know what to expect next from any of these boys on the island. Everyone is unpredictable, and now no one knows when or if another ship will come by to rescue us. Each and everyday all of us become more barbaric. Yet I feel as if their will be a huge conflict between Jack and I. But we will see what will happen. Until next time.

After Ralph looks up at the Naval officer he soon comes to realize with joy that he wouldn’t have died. As Ralph and the other Naval officers heard screaming and feet running towards the beach The officer drew his pistol and Ralph hid behind him. In shock Jack and his hunters dropped their weapons. Everyone who was left on the island was extremely happy to know that they would all be rescued. In the whisk of excitement the boys forgot about hunting one another and went to go to tell all the others.   In fear Ralph stayed on the beach and the Naval Officer asked "why won't you go share the good news with your friends". Ralph then responded "No sir, those are not my friends", Ralph can feel the Officer glare at him for a time but then cut off by the sounds of excitement. Dear Diary,               Today is a very difficult day and I feel as if there are worse days coming. What happened today was that I  believed bathing was one thing to do today. Playfully I was squirting water at Piggy and by mistake at his specs. But than Piggy noticed the not so pleasant whether which was very cloudy and looked as if it was going to rain. Soon we started to wonder where everyone had gone off to but we soon came to realize that they have went to Jack's party. I was upset that they had left just for some stupid meat. Of course I was uneasy because they all believe they are a tribe because they put war paint on. Piggy and I went over to the party Jack was holding, Piggy and I went to see how the events were and to just check up on things. At the event it seems as if everyone is having a blast. Chapter 8

Dear Diary, All the boys were happy about killing the pig. Yet, my leadership was questioned by no one other than Jack himself. I had no idea why he would question it. I soon came to realize that all he wanted was to become chief instead of me. Jack told all of the boys that I am a coward which was a lie. Jack then wanted to vote on who will be chief  and told all of the other boys to vote. To my surprise no one did vote for me to step down as chief. Jack wanted to become leader so much that he left all of the others including myself. He even wanted all of the other hunters to join his tribe. He is now bribing others with meat so they may join his tribe. Which would probably leave me with nothing and no one. Just when I was in doubt Piggy then comes to comfort me. He than tells me an idea that lifts my spirit which is we should make another signal fire but not on the mountain rather on the beach. I feel so much more uplifted with hope that Piggy has given me.
